Hero Haven is being built in the right sequence — governance first, capital second, construction third. This page documents the institution's development with the transparency that serious donors and partners deserve.
Hero Haven Institute is formally organized as a Texas-based 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Governing mission, institutional identity, and strategic framework are confirmed and in place. The institution's legal foundation for charitable operations is established. EIN: 42-2404064.
Founding board recruitment is active. Hero Haven is identifying and engaging candidates across five leadership categories: Texas capital access, national credibility, institutional operations, clinical authority, and hospitality discipline.
Board composition follows five locked design principles: institutional weight over enthusiasm, access over prestige, governance over personality, veteran-first mission protection, and capital discipline. The first three board members will determine campaign velocity.
Transformational and leadership-level donor conversations are underway. The Phase I pre-groundbreaking commitment target of $225 million is being pursued through a private, sequenced donor outreach strategy.
Capital discipline guardrails are in force: no construction begins before 50% of capital is secured; debt exposure is capped at 25% or less. Philanthropy leads this build.
Land acquisition strategy is in active development. The campus vision targets 300 to 500 acres in Texas — sufficient scale for golf infrastructure, wellness facilities, hospitality, family programming, and long-term expansion. Multiple candidate sites are under preliminary evaluation.
Hero Haven's evidence-informed wellness and restoration programming model is being developed in partnership with clinical advisors and veteran service experts. The framework will integrate golf as a therapeutic modality, family restoration, and long-arc restorative wellness.
Hero Haven's institutional identity framework, language standards, and concept-control documentation are finalized and in force. All external communications, donor materials, and public-facing content are governed by these standards to ensure consistent, mission-first presentation.
